Toastmasters is a non-profit educational organization that has existed since 1924 and currently has over 332 000 members, spread across 15 400 clubs in 135 countries. Our main mission is to provide a supportive and positive learning experience in which you can develop your communication and leadership skills, with a greater self-confidence and personal growth as a result.
Wether you have a big sales meeting coming up, have to present the company results to the shareholders, have to motivate your employees or have to give a presentation to your fellow students: Toastmasters can learn you how to prepare for it and make you better at it.
When you start out at Toastmasters, there are two tracks to follow. You can follow both at the same time or take on one of the two, whatever floats your boat. The first track is called the Competent Communicator track and focuses on improving your public speaking skills through 10 prepared speech assignments. The second track is called the Competent Leadership track and aims to improve your leadership skills by letting you take up roles (evaluator, toastmaster, table topics master, etc) during Toastmasters meetings.
Toastmasters Gent is a bilingual club: both English and Dutch are spoken, but knowledge of Dutch is not a specific requirement. During our meetings there’s always an encouraging and positive atmosphere. We all want to improve and at Toastmasters Gent, we’re helping each other do it.
If you would like to attend a meeting, we are happy to receive you as guest. Please contact us upfront via firstname.lastname@example.org.
We meet every 2nd, 4th and 5th Thursday of the month at 20:00. We gather at 19:45 at the Zebrastraat (Zebrastraat 32, 9000 Gent).
